Here’s to Your Health: Paleo Winter Dinner Ideas

Guess what? It's time for... Paleo winter dinner ideas! Know why? Well...

It’s currently snowing here at our Paleo Eats headquarters in Bend, Oregon. In fact, it’s been snowing for the past day and a half, and the cold-white glittery stuff has piled itself well past our knees in some areas. It’s winter and we love it and we can’t get enough of it. And because we know not everyone feels similarly about darker days, snow to the hips, and polar vortices, we’d like to offer a winter-inspired Paleo food list, a few Paleo winter dinner ideas, and some Paleo winter comfort foods that just might help you get on board with the awesomeness that is winter.

Bone Broth for Better Health

Whether you opt for homemade chicken, lamb, fish or a Paleo-Friendly beef broth, make sure you find yourself sipping bone broth come the winter months. While it’s a good idea to consume bone broth all year long, it might sound more appetizing when the temperatures have gotten low enough for you to want something that warms you up while feeding your body important minerals at the same time. Bone broths are not only brimming with nutrients, including calcium, magnesium, phosphorous, silicon, and sulphur, they’re also easy to digest and rich in flavor. A few of the many readily absorbable nutrients you’ll find in a cup of steaming, scratch-made bone broth are:

  • Collagen for joint protection and skin health
  • Gelatin for the restoration of your gut lining
  • Amino acids (proline, glutamine and arginine) for reduced inflammation
  • Potassium and glycine for cellular and liver detoxification

Paleo Winter Dinner Ideas

Because cooking throughout the winter season means finding foods that are as sustaining as they are delicious, a few of our favorite Paleo winter dinner ideas include main dishes like Sweet Potato & Apple Latkes, Turkey Breast with Butternut Squash & Figs, and Paleo Beef Stew (after which you can make bone broth!). On the side you’ll find us noshing on Paleo winter comfort foods like Paleo Cranberry Flax Stuffing, Roasted Cauliflower with lots of garlic, and simple Roasted Carrots. And to keep the Paleo greens going throughout winter, we love getting into Chipotle Meatballs & Strawberry Compote over Arugula, a Winter Fruit Kale Salad with orange ginger dressing, or a Brussels Sprout & Cabbage Salad.
