Quick Paleo Appetizers That Everyone Will Love

Quick Paleo Appetizers That Everyone Will Love

Wholesome and healthy is not the first thing people will notice about these yummies!

As usual, the focal point of the party rarely strayed from the kitchen.  The Teriyaki meatballs were going fast, and Ben hovered around the deviled eggs with bacon and pickled jalapenos like he had been assigned to guard them. "Apparently these are Paleo or something," he said between bites, snatching two more for his plate.  "All I know is that they are so good! Did you make these?" he asked me, with a look like he was about to offer me 40 bucks for a baggie of deviled eggs.

"I certainly did! Would you like the recipe?"

The New Year is fast approaching, and if anything can make or break a party, it's the food!  Whether you are hosting, bringing, or simply curious, I've put together some wonderful Paleo-approved appetizers that are definite crowd pleasers (and easy to make).

Let's talk about those devilled eggs.  Personally, I love devilled eggs to begin with, and adding bacon and pickled jalapeno ups the flavor ante, making these stand out from the ordinary.

PaleoNewbie calls this "one of the easiest paleo appetizers ever…a wickedly good deviled eggs and bacon mash-up you’d be proud to serve at any party."

Take a look at the recipe here:  Devilled Eggs with Bacon and Pickled Jalapeno

Another favorite from PaleoNewbie are the Teriyaki Meatballs.  As they note, "there’s nothing dainty or froufrou about these paleo and gluten-free hors d’oeuvres…just a round and robust teriyaki flavored meatball topped with a fresh chunk of pineapple."

It is possible that I have an unhealthy relationship with meatballs, and saving these for the guests is a challenge.

The PaleoNewbie appetizers section has many more wonderful recipes to choose from, including two other favorites,  Chicken Skillet Nachos and Asian Chicken Wings.  I recommend giving it a look!

Another admission- I love stuffed mushrooms.  There is something about combining the earthy flavor of a baked mushroom with rich, tangy or spicy fillings that is just so yummy.  And they are great as no-fuss, mouth-poppable bites for any party appetizer tray.

Randomly, on a blog called Jan's Sushi Bar, I found a great recipe for Chorizo-stuffed mushrooms that is Paleo approved and very tasty!

Finally, why not serve some fries?  These nut-butter crusted parsnip fries from Oh She Glows might sound a bit strange, but taste them and you will be a believer!  As she says, "these fries will change your life!"  Ok, I wouldn't go that far, but they are pretty amazing...

The last couple of party-goers finally out the door, I surveyed the mess with a satisfied sigh.  The plates offered only crumbs.  Looks like I won't need to spend time putting the food away.  One last Teriyaki meatball would have been nice though...

Here's to a happy and healthy New Year!
